Leading fiber internet services provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has published its human rights policy to ensure that the fundamental rights of its employees and stakeholders are respected and observed, in line with its participation in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy said that as a publicly-listed company, Converge endeavors to fulfill its commitment to promote, respect, and support human rights in the operations and activities of the company, including its subsidiaries and affiliates.

“As part of our bid to be the country’s leading provider of internet connectivity, we believe that it is imperative to give high regard to the fundamental rights of our people as we move for the just and sustainable growth of our business,” said Uy.

“We recognize our role as an enterprise by taking steps to make sure that Converge is not complicit in any form of human rights violations, where everyone is treated based on the principles of fairness, dignity, and respect,” Uy added.

The group’s human rights policy draws on the United Nations (UN) Guiding Principles of Business and Human Rights, and outlines how Converge will fulfill its responsibility to respect internationally recognized human rights as expressed in the International Bill of Human Rights and the Declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of the International Labor Organization (ILO).

The said policy covers guidelines on protecting the rights of customers, Converge’s own employees as well as those of its business partners, and communities where Converge operates. The document also touches on specific human rights topics relevant to an internet service provider, such as freedom of expression, access to information, data privacy, online sexual abuse and exploitation of children,  and conflict minerals.

Likewise, it also includes monitoring and reporting procedures to ensure that the provisions of the policy are implemented within Converge to easily identify and address adverse human rights impacts.

“We are proud to say that Converge aggressively takes action to meet our sustainability commitments. We are pursuing other critical initiatives to contribute to AmBisyon Natin 2040 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” said Benjamin B. Azada, Converge Chief Strategy Officer.
