Today, Coach Aldin Ayo and the Converge FiberXers team welcomed 6-foot-9 forward Quincy Miller as their newest import to play in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup this coming September.
The 29-year-old pro has spent the past 10 years of his professional career playing for some of the biggest basketball leagues around the world. Quincy Miller was the 38th pick overall in the 2012 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets, where he played 52 games with 16 starts. Shortly after, he played for the Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons in 2015 then moved on to be one of the most loved players in Serbia under the EuroLeague and many more across Europe. Most recently, he played for Nacional in Basketball Champions League Americas, and now, he’s been recruited to play for the youngest yet most promising team in the PBA, the Converge FiberXers.
“Converge picked Quincy for his athleticism, youth, and competitiveness. We think he will be a terrific fit for the FiberXers,” said Converge Team Governor Chito Salud. “He will have about a month to familiarize himself with Coach Ayo’s system and his Filipino teammates before the conference begins. Quincy is looking forward to his first opportunity to play in the PBA before ardent Filipino basketball fans.”
As the experienced pro’s first time playing in Manila for the PBA, Miller expresses his eagerness to both learn from and contribute to the league. “I’m really excited to play, gain experience in Asian basketball and the PBA, and hopefully just make a statement here,” said Miller. “I’m positive I can bring both versatility and excitement to the team. I make it a point to always have fun out there, and I’m sure my hunger matched with the drive these young guys have will be nothing short of good.”
Having been compared to NBA all-star Paul George and even matched up with Kevin Durant in height and length, the Converge team is hopeful that a player with Millers’ build and experience will take his place as a dominant player on court and will help propel the FiberXers to even greater heights in the upcoming conference.
Converge Head Coach Aldin Ayo also expressed his excitement for the new addition to the team. “I’ve seen him play, and I believe he’s going to fit very well into our system in terms of offense. At the end of the day, our goal is to win the championship. With Quincy on board, we will continue to focus on honing the team’s competitive spirit and maximizing their capabilities as young players.”
Since their debut in the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup, the Converge FiberXers have showcased grit and a fighting spirit that never backs down. With the rigorous training of new Head Coach Aldin Ayo and the addition of Quincy Miller, the FiberXers continue to shape up and work hard as they enter the Commissioner’s Cup this coming September.
