May 31, 2021 — Leading fiber broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. (PSE:CNVRG) has elected the members of its Board of Directors at its first Annual Stockholders’ Meeting as a listed company last May 28, 2021. The powerhouse Board of Directors is led by former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Jose P. de Jesus, serving as Chairman and Independent Director.

Also elected as Independent Directors were former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando M. Tetangco Jr. who had been consistently named as one of the world’s best central bankers and awarded the prestigious “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star” by the Government of Japan, and Reyes Tacandong & Co. Founding Partner and Chairman Roman Felipe S. Reyes who was previously Senior Partner at SGV & Co., the Philippine practice of Ernst & Young Global Limited.

Also in the Converge Board as one of the Non-Executive Directors is Atty. Francis Ed. Lim, senior partner at the prestigious ACCRA Law and former President and CEO of the Philippine Stock Exchange. Atty. Lim also served as President of the Management Association of the Philippines in 2020. Another Non-Executive Director is Saurabh N. Agarwal, partner at global private equity firm Warburg Pincus LLC which holds a 15.8% stake in Converge through Coherent Cloud Investments BV.

Completing the all-star Board are the Founders and Executive Directors of the company, Dennis Anthony H. Uy who is also the CEO and Maria Grace Y. Uy who serves as the company President and Chief Resources Officer.

Trained as an electrical engineer, Mr. Uy is widely-known for transforming his business with the rise in new technologies. Starting from his betamax rental shop in Angeles City in Pampanga, he flipped the business as he saw how cable television would eventually render betamax, VHS, and even Blue Ray discs a thing of the past. After setting up his own cable TV company right after the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo, he ventured into fiber optics that eventually led him to the fiber broadband business.

A 16th placer in the 1989 Certified Public Accountants Licensure Board Examinations with an Accounting degree from the De La Salle University, Mrs. Uy started her career with IBM Philippines where she eventually held managerial roles in accounting and finance. She was previously the CFO and EVP of ComClark Network and Technology Corp and the Angeles City Cable Television Network. She also served as CFO and VP at Savers Mall Group of Companies.

“Converge’s Board has a diverse membership, with the right mix of capabilities, perspectives and experience that will ensure the highest standards of governance. I look forward to working with my fellow Directors as well as with Management over the coming year,” said Converge Chairman Jose P. de Jesus who also previously led some of the country’s biggest companies like Meralco and Manila North Tollways Corp.
